Abstract
In the present study, we was to investigate the effect of the integrated therapy of oriental and western medicine on pneumonia complicated with acute stroke. 105 cases of pneumonic patients were divided into two groups. Which are the Control
group
treated with only western medicine (n=45) and the Sample group treated with the integrated therapy of oriental and western medicine (n=60). The oriental medicine used in sample group were Youngdamsagantang (n=12) and Yanpyetang (n=45) added
Houttyunia
herba 30-40 g, respectively and alternation of both prescriptions added Houttyunia herba 30-40 g (n=3). Patients received 100 cc decoction of each drug three times daily.
@ES The results were as followed;
@EN 1) It was revealed that age, sex, ratios of intracranial hemorrhage and infarction, initial mentality of pneumonia severity grouping of pneumonia, presence of tracheostomy, lung involvement, Pseudomonas acruginosa infection, and actual
condition of
antibiotics administrtation are not significant in both groups.
2) In moderate and mild cases, the durations of antibiotics administration in sample group was more shorterned than those of antibiotics administratin in control group (p<0.01. p<0.05 respectively). But in sever case, sample group showed no
significant
but extending tendancy of administration duration than control group.
3) On the antipyretic and anti-inflammatory effects. sample group showed no significant effects.
4) Total mortality appeared 42.2% in control group and 8.3% in sample group. Thus patients in sample group survived more than in control group (p<0.01). Survival duration of the expired patients after starting of treatment were 30¡¾15.2 days in
control
group and 37.6¡¾35.7 days in sample group. But there were not significant difference between two groups.
5) Pneumonia was classified into mild, moderate, and severe types depending on the severity. The curative effect of each type was more excellent in sample group than in control group (p<0.01 respectively).
6) The side-effect of liver function in sample group was more occured (8%) than that of liver function in-control group (4%). But no significance between two groups was noted and then the side-effect of kidney function was not occured in both
groups.
According to the above results, It might be recognized that the integrated therapy of oriental and western medicine has a reasonable effect on treating pneumonia complicated with acute stroke.
